I think, within a few generations, after our grandparents and parents are gone we'll have our civil rights. After the lingering ignorance is gone. Many children of people who believe it's wrong to give this group their rights don't mimic their parents. This is the internet generation and, I believe, a generation of acceptance for the most part. We are gaining support but just not enough, not yet. Patience.
I'm waiting for my rights, Obama. To quote Lady Gaga, "ARE YOU LISTENING!?" I want my rights! That goes for my home, South Carolina, and every state in this great nation. California, Maine, every corner of America, our territories, need to give us our civil rights. We need to set an example to be followed, to become a new kind of world power. An acceptance, a tolerance for all. That's what we need and what we need to spread througout the world.
I wish I could have attended the march recently in DC. In the future I plan to attend some rallies, marches, anything. I want to help this cause beyond this journal and my Facebook page, my MySpace, the essays in college read only by my teachers. Let me have my right, my happiness. We're a land of the brave, let us be free.
